Brakes

When we press the brake pedal, we expect the car to come to a stop - simple as that. But do you know when the last time your brakes were serviced to ensure they're working effectively?

It's estimated that roughly 10% of all vehicle crashes are the result of faulty equipment. Of this 10%, more than 20 percent of said crashes are attributed to brake failure or malfunction.

Bottom line: Regular brake inspection and maintenance are critical to safe operation. At any local GreatWater 360 Auto Care-affiliated service center, we have all of your brake needs covered. Read on to learn more or find your nearest location for service today.

What's Included in Our Brake Repair Service

Our repair service begins with a thorough brake inspection, where we carefully assess the brakes and key brake components, such as brake pads, rotors, drums, fluids, and more.

And if we find that something needs repair or replacement, our experts will walk you through what’s needed, why it’s important, and how it will keep you on the road safely.

Warning Signs of Failing Brakes

One thing about brake repair is that the warning signs are fairly obvious. If your vehicle is experiencing any of the following issues, schedule a service appointment at your nearest GreatWater-affiliated location and we’ll get you back on the road in no time:

  • A grinding, squealing, or screeching sound when the brake pedal is applied.
  • The vehicle vibrates or pulls to the right or the left when the brakes are applied.
  • You need to press the brake pedal to the floor to get your vehicle to stop.
  • You notice your vehicle taking longer to stop than normal.

Routine Brake Maintenance: How Often and Why?

While the frequency of brake maintenance often depends on a variety of factors (i.e., how often you drive, your driving habits, etc.), it's a good rule of thumb to plan on brake maintenance every 18,000 to 20,000 miles. In addition to planning for regular brake maintenance, it's always a good idea to have a brake inspection at least once every six months. This can help you anticipate and plan accordingly for when maintenance may be required.

At our local shop network, brake inspections are included as part of our multi-point inspections that we perform with every oil change and many other routine services to help keep you informed of your vehicle's brake status.
