Car Belt & Hose Services
Belts and hoses are important components under the hood of the car that serve different purposes. Belts work to distribute power from the engine to other parts of the vehicle so various other components can work properly. Hoses work by transporting fluid throughout the vehicle.
If you have belts or hoses failing or in need of repair, it's going to impact vehicle performance and functionality. Contact us today to schedule an appointment for belt and hose inspection and repair.
Understanding the Different Belts & Hoses in Cars
There are various belts and hoses in today's vehicles. Here's an overview:
Timing Belt
Located on the outside of the engine, timing belts help the engine operate smoothly.
Serpentine Belt
Serpentine belts transfer power generated by the engine to the rest of the vehicle. Some of the parts that serpentine belts transfer power to include the alternator, air conditioner, and power steering pump.
Radiator Hose
Radiator hoses transport coolant to and from the engine and radiator to prevent overheating.
Heater Core Hose
Heater core hoses are similar to radiator hoses, except they transfer coolant between the engine and the heater core. This helps prevent engine overheating by transferring heat away from the engine.
Brake Hose
Brake hoses carry brake fluid that helps safely and effectively stop the vehicle.
Other Belts & Hoses
Other belts and hoses within a vehicle's footprint include fuel hoses, power steering hoses, fan belts, alternator belts, and more.
Signs of Worn Out Belts & Hoses
Some common signs and symptoms associated with worn belts and hoses include:
- Squealing noises, which can indicate a belt that has slipped or is misaligned.
- Tighter steering, especially when turning.
- A cracking noise that you hear coming from underneath the vehicle.
- Your engine temperature increases or gets close to overheating more often.
- Coolant leaks coming from your vehicle.
- Poor heating and air conditioning performance.
- Hoses that appear bulging or swollen upon visual inspection.
When to Replace Automotive Belts & Hoses
Most belt and hose problems can be resolved by proactively replacing them at manufacturer-recommended intervals. For instance, timing belts should be replaced every 40,000 to 60,000 miles. Hoses should be replaced every four years or 40,000 miles - whichever comes first.
If you don't replace your belts or hoses at mileage intervals, be sure to have them addressed at the first sign of wear or damage. Failure to do so could result in more significant and expensive problems, like engine or other vehicle component damage.
What We Provide
As a full-service automotive center, no task is too big or too small for our technicians. We'll carefully inspect your belts and hoses and replace them if necessary to ensure your engine runs well and all of its other components are performing properly.
